Thoroughbred Spell & Pre-Training Farm

Located in Victoria's premier thoroughbred region, this 80-acre spell and pre-training farm provides rest, recovery, and conditioning for racehorses between campaigns. With horses valued from tens of thousands to over a million dollars arriving regularly from metropolitan trainers, the property required a fencing system that could deliver an uncompromising standard of safety — without the ongoing maintenance burden of traditional fencing. The Challenge For the farm's owner, the stakes were clear: every horse on the property was a significant financial asset and, more importantly, an animal in their care during a vulnerable recovery phase.

The existing fencing — a mix of aging timber post-and-rail and wire — presented several serious concerns:

Splintering timber posed laceration risks to horses prone to leaning or pawing at fences during their rest period

Wire fencing lacked visibility, creating collision risk — especially for horses freshly arrived from the racetrack, unaccustomed to paddock turnout

Frequent repairs were consuming staff hours better spent on horse management and conditioning programmes

Weather exposure had degraded timber and wire to the point where full replacement was more economical than ongoing patch repairs

The property's professional image needed to reflect the calibre of the horses in its care, particularly when trainers and owners visited to inspect spelling stock

The owner needed a fencing system that could protect high-value thoroughbreds, withstand heavy daily use, and maintain a premium appearance — all with minimal ongoing maintenance.
